Well and beyond

I'm glad I bought a laptop

For as long as I have been using a computer I have always just had a stationary pc. Except for a few year in university. Back then I bought a laptop, but frankly I didn't really have a use case for a laptop back then.

But things have changed. I graduated and I started my career as a software engineer. And for the past few years I have started to work from home for two days a week. But so it happens that I want to do things at the pc in my free time after work as well. Unsurprisingly, it really doesn't feel good to sit in the same spot where I already have been sitting for the previous eight hours. Not that I have a problem with my job nor that I have a problem with sitting at the pc after work. But just sitting on that damn same spot for the whole day just isn't it.

So lately I have started to use my work laptop privately. Sitting on the couch or on the balcony. Just surfing or writing things down.

And boy, it is so much more relaxing sitting on the couch and surfing than sitting in my chair. Not just that it is a different spot. But also that its comfy on a whole other level.

So I started thinking about whether to actually buy a laptop for myself. But frankly this decision was quickly made. I settled for a MacBook (even though I didn't really like the price tag) but I wanted a nice laptop with a long lasting battery. So, well, I bit the bullet and bought it. My first Apple product ever, btw.

And after a few weeks of having that laptop I have to say: I'm really glad I bought one.

I started using it right from the beginning. I didn't have to consciously bring myself to use it. I just did. Like I have been waiting for it all the time.

And now I'm sitting here on my couch, writing this text while listening to some music. And happy to go to bed in the next hour :) Good night
